20 Stories. One Ripple Effect.
Consolatha was raising seven children on her own in Bukoba, Tanzania.
As a widow, she knew the weight of being the person everyone depended on. With just two chickens, two pigs, and one goat, she was doing everything she could to provide for her family.
But determination alone couldn’t give her the financial stability she needed.
Then, through the Bukoba Women’s Empowerment Association (BUWEA), an MPA partner, Consolatha received a small loan.
She didn’t waste the opportunity.
She purchased more livestock and began selling eggs and piglets. As her business grew, she repaid her loan and qualified for another, using the money to help cover her children’s education.
One of her children, who was just beginning high school when Consolatha joined the program, has since graduated from university.
Think about what that means.
A mother who once struggled to provide for her family was now helping her children build futures she had worked so hard to make possible.
But Consolatha’s journey wasn’t without setbacks.
When an earthquake damaged her home, she faced another difficult challenge. Rather than lose everything she had worked toward, she accessed another loan to rebuild and continue supporting her family.
And then something remarkable happened.
Consolatha began sharing what she had learned with other women, teaching them about microfinancing and the opportunities available to them.
Her success was no longer just her own.
The opportunity she received was becoming an opportunity for someone else.
Today, Consolatha continues to dream bigger, not only for her family but for the women she mentors.
Her story reminds us that the impact of generosity doesn’t end with one loan, one business, or even one family.
Sometimes, the person you help today becomes the person who helps someone else tomorrow.
And that is how a ripple becomes a wave of change.
Your generosity can help create the next opportunity. Be part of the ripple.
