20 Stories. One Ripple Effect.

For Neema John, being a mother meant doing everything she could to give her four daughters a better future.
But after losing her husband, Neema faced a difficult reality. She had four girls depending on her, a small piece of land, and no reliable way to earn an income.
She had the determination to provide for her family. What she didn’t have was the opportunity.
That began to change in 2015 when Neema joined the Bukoba Women’s Empowerment Association (BUWEA), an MPA partner in Tanzania.
With a loan of just $60, Neema purchased a sewing machine and colorful African fabrics. She began making clothes for people in her village, turning her skills into a business of her own.
And slowly, that small investment began changing her family’s future.
Her business grew. Customers began seeking out her work. She repaid her first loan and borrowed another $75 to purchase more fabric and take on additional orders.
But Neema’s greatest accomplishment wasn’t measured in the clothes she made or the money she earned.
It was knowing she could pay the school fees for all four of her daughters.
Four girls with the opportunity to learn. Four futures filled with possibilities their mother was working so hard to create.
And Neema wasn’t finished. She began planning to hire someone to help her grow her business even further.
This is what opportunity looks like.
Not simply a sewing machine or a small loan, but a mother gaining the means to provide for her children and build something that lasts.
Twenty years of MPA means thousands of moments of possibility, each beginning with someone willing to give another person a chance.
Neema’s story reminds us that the amount of a gift doesn’t determine the size of its impact.
Sometimes, just $60 can help change the future of an entire family.
Help make the next story possible. Give the gift of opportunity today.
