Microfinancing Partners in Africa (MPA) is proud to announce the appointment of Christian Wargo as its new Executive Director. Christian, an accomplished nonprofit leader with over a decade of experience, joins the team with a deep commitment to advancing the mission of MPA, which empowers individuals and communities through microfinance initiatives in Africa.
Christian brings a wealth of expertise in nonprofit operations, team development, and strategic growth. His leadership will further enhance MPA’s standing in the community, foster staff excellence, and strengthen relationships with donors and supporters. With a focus on ensuring mission-critical integrity and sustainability, Christian is poised to guide MPA into its next phase of impact.
“I look forward to watching Christian build upon the legacy and hard work of our Founder Sister Toni Temporiti, the MPA staff, and the many donors and volunteers who have supported us over the past two decades. Christian’s passion for helping others is a great fit for the mission of MPA to provide a ‘hand-up’ while building partnerships and empowering our partners on the ground. Christian’s leadership and non-profit development experience aligns with our goal of increasing the number of people we can help in Africa by raising the visibility of the organization to new donors and grant-making institutions.” said Tyler Blickhan, Board President of MPA.
An Ohio native, Christian earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and business administration from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Since relocating to St. Louis in 2018, he has become a passionate advocate for the region and its nonprofit sector. Most recently Wargo dedicated his time as director of Annual Giving Programs at Washington University in St. Louis. Currently he serves on the Saint Louis Zoo’s Young Professionals Advisory Board, the St. Louis Arts Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and the development committee of STAGES St. Louis.
MPA is energized by the leadership and vision Christian will bring, strengthening the organization’s efforts to provide microfinance solutions that transform lives across Africa.
