Ronald Ssembatya and his wife Jessica are a young married couple with three children living in the Nkenge village of Uganda. Since 2013 they have participated and greatly benefited from the Cow Project.
Their story began long before joining the cow project when Ronald’s father passed away and left for his son and daughter in law to inherit his 5 acres of land that was completely agriculturally depleted. For years they struggled simply because they had no knowledge of how to produce fruit or vegetables on the 5 acres they had, which could be a great source of daily income.
After receiving their cow in 2013, it has so far delivered three calves with one female being passed on to another farmer in their community during 2015.
From their cow’s milk production they have earned enough income to pay for their children’s school fees and buy the supplies needed to update their home. In the future, they are looking forward to starting a piggery as another income generating project.
