Rashid Kudra is a 40-year-old widow with 5 children. Four of her children are in primary school and one in secondary school. Before joining BUWEA she was looking for work as her late husband was a farmer and he would grow and sell some crops to take care of their family. However, when he died the burden of providing for her five children became very stressful. Rashid joined BUWEA in 2015 with the hopes of keeping chickens as a way to make a living and provide for her family. She first received a loan of $50 and purchased about 20 chickens. Her business has helped her have a sustainable income for her kids to not only provide them the food needed to survive but she is also paying their school fees.
In the future, she is planning to take another loan of $100 so that she can increase her business.
Her dream is to see all her kids be successful as she will try to make sure that they finish their schooling. She would like for them to inherit her business when she becomes too old to tend.
