At Microfinancing Partners in Africa (MPA), our mission is to empower individuals in Sub-Saharan Africa to lift themselves out of extreme poverty through sustainable microfinancing programs. By providing access to financial services and education, we enable entrepreneurs to create lasting change in their communities.
The Challenge Ahead
Recent developments have cast a shadow over international aid. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), established in 1961 to provide humanitarian assistance worldwide, is facing significant challenges. Recent administrative actions have led to a freeze on foreign aid, causing disruptions in essential services across regions like Sub-Saharan Africa.
This freeze threatens to cut funding to Sub-Saharan Africa by approximately $6.5 billion, jeopardizing programs that millions rely on for survival. Unlike some organizations, MPA does not receive USAID funding; we rely solely on the generosity of individual donors to sustain our initiatives.
While our organization’s funding comes from individual and corporate donors rather than international aid, the crisis will have an even greater impact on our programs.
Our Commitment
Despite these uncertainties, our commitment to the people of Africa remains unwavering. Our programs focus on microfinancing and creating sustainable sources of income, empowering individuals to build better futures for themselves and their families. Through small loans, training, and support, we help entrepreneurs start businesses, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to the economic development of their communities.
Your Role in Making a Difference
Now, more than ever, your support is vital. With potential cuts in international aid, the communities we serve face increased challenges. Your donation can provide the necessary resources for individuals to achieve financial independence and break the cycle of poverty.
