It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of our Executive Director, Heather Cammarata, at the close of 2023, after 14 years of dedicated service to Microfinancing Partners in Africa. Heather’s leadership and unwavering commitment have laid the strong foundation for our organization’s future success. Heather began volunteering shortly after attending her first Microfinancing Partners in Africa Gala in 2008, joined the staff in November 2009, and has traveled to Africa eight times. During her tenure from 2009 to 2023, Microfinancing Partners in Africa’s Gala revenues grew from $150k to $404k, and program spending increased from $167k to $872k.
Heather’s passion for the people we serve has been evident in every initiative, project, and endeavor she has undertaken. Her tireless efforts and genuine care for the communities we support have made a profound impact, enriching the lives of countless individuals across Africa.
As we celebrate her retirement, we also recognize Heather’s example of service, drive, and dedication which have helped shape Microfinancing Partners in Africa into the thriving and impactful organization it is today.
Heather plans to continue supporting Microfinancing Partners in Africa as a donor, remaining active on the Gala Council planning committee and leading the 2024 donor trip to Uganda and Tanzania. Reflecting on her time with Microfinancing Partners in Africa, Heather noted, “It has been the honor of my professional career to have been in this role, serving mothers, fathers, and families in their climb out of extreme poverty. I am filled with gratitude.”
Thank you, Heather, for your unwavering commitment to our mission. We are immensely grateful for your extraordinary service, and your influence will continue to inspire us to a brighter future.
